Before you get to that stage you will have to take a step backward and first create your widget locally. With that being said, lets get started. 

The Layout

In order for your widget to look nice on the dashboard, you should adhere to these dimensions. It's best practise to choose one template for your widget.

You will save yourself a lot of development time, lets face it. If you give someone fully customization privileges, they're going to break it. Set your template and develop 

for that. 

N.B: This is not a style guide, you are free to use whatever graphic style/orientation you feel best suits your widget.
