Bare Metal RuBAN Install

 

RuBAN is run on a minimal CentOS version 6.5.

To run RuBAN, your server must at minimum, match the following specs on Davra Platform Sizing guidelines

Download the installers iso+ tar.gz:

RuBAN can be downloaded through the following link;
http://dev.davranetworks.com/downloads/RuBAN-4.1.tar.gz

CentOS can be downloaded through the following link;
http://centos.arcticnetwork.ca/6.5/isos/x86_64/CentOS-6.5-x86_64-minimal.iso 

Add the OS to a bootable USB/CD and power on your server.

To create a bootable USB, you can use Rufus application or to create a bootable CD, you can use FreeISOBurner.

Once the bootable USB/CD has been created, insert it into to the server and power on.

When prompted press the button to enter Boot Configuration.

Change the boot process to USB or CD and then boot

Follow the steps to install the OS

When CentOS has booted you will have to follow a few installation steps in order to install the OS

First screen to appear is;

Press Enter on "Install or upgrade an existing system"

The next screen you will see is;

Move the curser to Skip and press Enter

Next you will see;

Click Next.

Choose your language and click Next

Choose your keyboard layout and click Next

The default is Basic Storage Devices - leave this as default and click Next

If your server contains data select "No, keep any data"
If your server is solely dedicated to RuBAN, click "Yes, discard any data"

This can be left to default localhost.localdomain or it can be changed. Once finished click Next

Select the relevant timezone and click Next

Select a root password and enter it into the two textboxes. Click Next

Here is how you would like the OS to partition itself on the server.
If this server is solely for RuBAN, just select Use All Space and click Next
Select the one that most suits your needs 

Click Write changes to disk

Now the OS will install

Once the OS is installed, you will have to reboot

Once rebooted, you can now login by entering username as root and password as whatever you set it to earlier
