A high level overview of RuBAN's fog compute, cloud platform and application eco-system.

There are three distinct layers. Fog Compute, RuBAN core Platform and Application enablement. Fog compute is relating to leveraging the local compute at the edge. The philosophy of the RuBAN architecture is to push as much intelligence as possible to the devices on the remote asset whether they be intelligent gateways or servers. RuBAN agents are pushed to these devices to perform various tasks in harvesting data, inspecting and filtering data and then pushing data reliably to the cloud or to other systems on board the vehicle. The core RuBAN platform listens to data coming in off the wire and stores it efficiently in real time and makes it available for reporting in real time. Event processing can also be dynamically attached on the RuBAN server. All the data in the RuBAN database is made available through the RuBAN open API. This allows third party applications to be built on top of the RuBAN platform. Also RuBAN can push data to third party applications. Finally RuBAN comes with its own application builder which allows the user to drag and drop components to make up and application which they can then publish and reuse.
